Asphalt and Sealcoat Work
Posted on May 28th, 2019

The Whalers’ Island streets will have asphalt re-surfacing, crackfill and sealcoat work beginning Thursday, May 30, 2019 and continuing in phases until July 25, 2019. Approximately 20% of the street and parking areas will be re-surfaced and the concrete surround at the Dewey traffic circle will be completely replaced. The contractor for this job is American Asphalt. The crackfill work will be completed in one day on June 27, 2019. The new asphalt and concrete will be allowed to cure for one month before a new sealcoat is applied. All streets and parking areas will receive a 100% new seal coat between July 10, 2019 and July 25, 2019. All work will be scheduled on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays to avoid disruption of trash and recycle collection.

There will be full or partial street closures on June 5, June 12, July 10, July 17 and July 24. You will not be allowed to drive or park on the closed streets on these dates. You should move your car to street parking on Dewey, Farragut or Halsey before the closure period if you need to use the car on any of these workdays. Closure will last from 7:30am until 5:00pm on closure days. Cars parked in a closure area on workdays will be towed at the owner’s expense. American Asphalt will place no parking signs in the closure areas 72 hours prior to the workdays. The Association will send notices to homeowners and residents in advance of the scheduled works days. Manor sent the initial notice about this work to all homeowners and residents on May 20, 2019. Use this link to access the earlier notice: Asphalt Repair and Sealcoat Notice
