Whalers’ Island Common Area Usage

The Board has decided on the following rules for common area usage in response to the COVID-19 pandemic:

  1. The Bridgeport pool area will remain closed until the middle of May or later until the renovations described below have been completed and the San Mateo County health officer eases restrictions in place for the COVID-19 pandemic.
  2. The Dewey pool will not be heated and the area will not be setup for 2020 use until the San Mateo County health officer eases restrictions in place for the COVID-19 pandemic.
  3. Reservations for the Bridgeport BBQ/picnic area will not be accepted until the San Mateo County health officer eases restrictions in place for the COVID-19 pandemic.
  4. The Bridgeport tennis court area and basketball/pickle ball court area will be closed until the San Mateo County health officer eases restrictions in place for the COVID-19 pandemic.

Bridgeport Pool Renovation Closure

The Bridgeport pool area will be closed for approximately eight weeks for renovation that will require draining the pool. This work will begin as soon as the HOA and our contractor obtain the necessary permits from the county health department. The old pool lining will be demolished and the pool surface will be re-plastered. New plaster, tile and coping will be installed. The surface around the pool area will be resealed. Cracks and leaks will be repaired after the old pool lining is demolished. The large pool and the wading pool will both be renovated. The heated spa will be shut down during this period because the entire area must be locked down as a construction zone.

The Board regrets the inconvenience of the closure but this work must be done during a warm weather period. The exact length of the closure period will depend on the weather. Owners, residents and guests will not be allowed to enter the pool area including the BBQ/picnic area during the closure period.
