New Common Area Key Fob System
Posted on Aug 8th, 2024
The Board has approved the installation of an electronic, digital key fob system to replace the current keyed locks in the Whalers’ Island common areas. Installation of the new system is expected to begin by the end of August and will take approximately two weeks. Once the key fob system is installed, one key fob will be issued to each of the 206 lots in Whalers’ Island. The key fob system will be managed by Manor Association. Each key fob has a hardwired id that will be registered and activated after it is issued.
The key fobs will be used to open gates and restrooms at the Bridgeport and Dewey pools areas. The fobs will also be used to open the gate to the tennis court area and to switch on the tennis court lights.
The existing common area keys will be used to access the common areas during installation of the new key fob system. Access to the common areas will not be restricted during the installation work. The old keys do not have to be returned when the new system is operational. The only use for the old keys after the new system is operational is to enter the Whalers’ Island boat storage area near Farragut and Mystic. Homeowners who are assigned a boat storage rack in the boat storage area should keep the existing keys to enter this area.
Manor Association will send more details about the new key fob system to homeowners and residents as we near the activation date for the new system. Instructions will be provided for how to obtain and use the key fobs.
