Foster City is located in San Mateo County on the San Francisco peninsula near the junction of Highway 101 and Highway 92. Foster City is a waterfront community on San Francisco Bay.
Foster City is divided into nine neighborhoods. Whalers' Island is located in neighborhood six. The Landing section is near the intersection of Edgewater Boulevard and Farragut Boulevard. The Island section is near the intersection of Farragut Boulevard and Dewey Drive.
